Welcome on the free astronomy wiki
Free as in free software (as in free speech), moreover it's free of charges (as in free beer) and well documented to enable people contributing to it.
Free software for astronomy is discussed and documented, whether they are related to:
- Telescope and other device control, autoguiding, autofocus, filter wheel commands, and so on.
- Cartography, all kinds of sky maps, particularly including slewing (GoTo).
- Image processing.
A Hardware Compatibility List is kept up-to-date by free software users.
A mailing list is available in the lin4astro project, for discussion about open source astronomy projects that could be included in an astronomy-tailored Linux distribution.
